In case you are curious I've posted some pictures of my newly acquired GF-1 flashgun mounted on my GRD IV. I've also posted a couple of pictures of the GF-1 with the popular Metz 20 C2.
I'm not a big fan of flash photography but every now and again I need to record large indoor scenes of people (prize givings etc) and something more than the built-in flash is required. The Metz was bought to use with the GRD II and is OK provided you shoot in manual and play a bit (normally open-up a stop) with the exposure setting. With only 2 AA batteries it tends to die quite quickly and is a bit slow to recharge. The GF-1 was bought via my prefered camera shop (eBay) and can do a lot more given the TTL capabilities of the IV (and III). It seems to work really well.
While in the frontal shot it does not look a lot bigger than the 20 C2, the side view tells a different story. It is also a lot heavier (double the batteries has a lot to do with it). However, I should know in advance when I'm likely to need to use it so carrying an extra bag on those occasions with the flashgun (and tripod) is not too big a deal.
