Focusing in Zoom

I am relatively new to this Forum. I love the GX200 and recently developed a problem focusing in the telephoto mode. When I try to click the lens goes back and forth and stops without taking a picture. Its almost like the camera trying to focus but is unable to do so. I cleaned the lens to no improvement.
Does anyone know a solution or has had a similar issue ? Any reliable repair facilities in the US ? I will do anything to keep this camera functional !

Hi GXRaj and welcome on the board! I never experienced anything like that, except occasional problems with focus lock under difficult lightning conditions. What focus mode did you use? And did you try also another mode? Another thing you might try is to enable the Macro mode. Focusing in Macro is noticeably slower, but much more precise.

If nothing helps, you may ask for help here:

I tried everything I could. Changed battery, used different modes, tried manual focus, snap focus, updated FW, cleaned lens. The camera works fine at wide angle but when using the zoom the lens goes back and forth and stops at wide angle.

Looks like what I had a couple months ago with my GX100, couldn't zoom in to full tele. Just past the 50mm zoom position it did what you describe and returned to the 24mm wide position.

I did sent it in for repair under warranty. Ricoh replaced the lens assembly.

If it is still under warranty contact your retailer. This went flawlessly with mine, got it back within approx. 2 weeks.

Regards Remko
