Flash Failure

Has anyone experienced failure of the built-in flash? It worked when I got the camera, seems now to be a HW failure as the green flash charge light won't stay on when the flash is flipped up. I loaded the new SW, did factory reset.. Still no flash. Anything else I should try before sending it back in?

Also charged the battery, removed the battery...

While the GXR had a stupid setting "flash OFF", even when flipped up, this setting does not exist on the GR (only Auto, red eyes, etc).
So, It seems only the flash cannot be used when "Continuous Shooting", or "Auto Bracket", or "Interval Composite" (and of course video)...
If it is not your case, yes, it smells failure.
