Was bored doing grocery shopping with wife just now and remembered i had my GRD II in my pocket...so decided to try some b.w shots...have a look and comment,..
Nice repetitive image, I like the BW idea but it could use a bit of PP to bring out more tones. The tag in middle kind of adds to the story but confuses the image a bit -- Sometimes we have no options with our subject so there it stays!
This is my first try in B/W so i am not sure how it should look like...just b/w ? ...its straight out of the camera jpeg and only resized...so when u say bring out the tone a more, can you let me know what do you mean and how? Really would like to learn how to move into this b/w zone as i have not shot any b/w since my old film days back in school ..here is another image
Maybe Tim is refering a bit more contrast, or work the tonal range from black to white tones. The problem with BW is, many times, the general grey tone. You used a out of the camera BW, but I prefer to convert a colour file with "channel mixer". You can try some of this numbers and see what you like the best: http://www.markushartel.com/tutorials/p ... tings.html
BTW, I like very much both photos, but the one that gets my full attention is the second one. What a great photo!
I love how you have embraced the B+W lufc2001. I too would shoot more in B+W if I only knew how. Man I haven't shot B+W since high school in photography class with the Olympus Trip 35.
I like your second photograph. I'm not a tit man, but I like your mellons.
The stack of fish is good also. Fish are alive & loose something in death, stacked atop each other with frowning mouths.
One question,,,i suppose this is a matter of personal likes and preferences, but usually i take these shots using macro mode which uses the max aperture...should i be using a bigger aperture so that the overall picture would be more sharper? i dont like to use bigger aperture mainly cos it slows down the shutter speed thus promoting hand shake and blurry pictures..
