First GRDIII firmware 1.21 available!

First GRDIII FW is available for download!

There are no new features, this FW is mainly bug-fix release. If I deciphered the google translation right, there is no words about the high ISO banding or occasional AF issues. So I guess this FW was developed right after the GRDIII announcement and before people's reports about these two problems. I'm sure, these two problems are not so easy to track down and fix. I guess Ricoh just wanted to address the small issues first.

Modified the following phenomena:
  1. 1) With the combination of the following conditions, it will not properly appear the image in the position display window that is shown when you playback with enlarged.
    • - [Auto Rotate] ON
      - Rotate the camera to the lengthwise direction
      - Playback the picture that was captured in the lengthwise direction and with [3] or [1] in the image size
  • 2) Set the focus to [MF] (Manual focus) and turn the power off, and then turn the power on again, the focus distance will become infinity.
  • 3) In Manual focus, if you enlarge the center part of the image in the screen, the enlarged part may become black-out rarely.
  • 4) With attaching the GW-2 (wide conversion lens), there may be rare occasions that information on the focus distance in Exif will not be recorded correctly (Correctly, which should be recorded as 21mm; 35 mm filmcameras equivalent).
  • 5) In taking pictures by switching between macro mode and normal mode, the resolution in surrounding parts (four corners) may change. (I reported this one ;) It was just a wrong refresh of focus rectangle after switching from Macro to Normal mode Focus AF.)

Updated !! , thanks a lot , It was my first ricoh update and I was a bit nervous but everything went smooth !
 
Is there any information out there about the next FW-update for the GRD III?
I think about the bracketing (-2EV to +2 EV vs. 0,5 EV at the moment) and the new Snapfocus-steps the GXR offers.
 
Nope, there is not an information about next GRDIII FW. I'm very skeptic about +-2EV bracketing, but it would be very logical to allow users of premium camera like GRDIII at least the same BKT and some other "FW doable" things. We will see ;)
 
Ive tried doing the new firmware for my Ricoh GR3 with no sucess , any ideas why its not working


It's saying un-matched file and its on 1.8 at the moment

Hi Sally,

I believe you need to download the latest FW 2.0 (discussed here). Version 1.21 is apparently older than your existing 1.8 probably installed from factory?

BTW, are you sure you have both firmware files copied in the root folder of your SD card? In other words, both files must be outside any directory.
 
Thanks for your swift reply , looks like i was trying to do the files wrongly , all sorted now and updated to 2.0
