February contest (finally) open for voting! Sorry for delay folks! I got flu last week and I was unable to sit behind the computer for longer than 5 minutes, then I started to sweat like I had run a marathon I now feel better so here are the February photos to vote.

As always, I'm a bit late with monthly contest winner announcement All entries were great and I really appreciate your effort to be creative. Due to the hit of the flu, I completely forgot to place my vote. However, my vote would not change much in the total sum So this time, I decided to announce winner and runner-up - Ikasumi and Wiener. Congratulations guys!

I like Ikasumi's entry for the similarity with "old" shot. But one can clearly see the differences. It's like "find 10 differences" puzzle I also like the B&W mood. GRDI did a great job here.

Andy's work is completely different. It shows the opposite sides of human madness and craftsmanship.

Dear Pavel and All:

Due to the situation here in Japan over the last 10 days, I had completely forgotten about my entry for the February contest. I would like to sincerely thank you, and everyone else who entered and voted.

Though life here is as yet hardly normal, my family and myself are OK. Our home in Tokyo suffered some damage, but nothing that can't be repaired. The images of immense suffering in Northern Honshu have made us appreciate how truly fortunate we are. And when we think of the people putting their lives at risk for all of us, to minimize radiation leakage in Fukushima, we have nothing to complain about.

People here will rarely ask for help; they focus on helping themselves and others. I have not heard of even one example of looting or other crime, despite the extreme hardship. It is deeply humbling to see how people here have responded, and I have nothing but the utmost respect for them. If anyone reading this sees fit to give a small donation to Red Cross or other relief organization operating here, you can be sure it will be used where it is truly needed.

My warmest wishes to all the forum members. Please keep taking your wonderful photos that have inspired me and others. Keep snapping and record all you can while you can; you never know what might happen.

Congrats to the winners!

Ikasumi, there are no words to describe what's happening there, as we see by distance. It was/is a shock to all of us in the world, So I can only imagine...
Anyway, it's good to hear news from forum members in Japan. I wish you and you family all the best, as possible, considering the circumstances.
