EIZO ColourEdge

Active Member
My nearest and dearest VERY kindly gave me a present of a EIZO ColourEdge screen. It is amazing in terms of sharpness and definition between colours.
However, everything looks TOO vibrant now...I am dazzled at what I thought were drab colours before...and therefore have NO idea how my pics look in the 'old world'... :? ;)
Here are a couple from earlier this week, as examples of what I think look 'over vivid'.
Comments please?
Cheers!
Andy

They look fine to me Andy. Nicely balanced colors. I'm often too in troubles because of saturated colors of macbook lcd and then I'm surprised to see something completely different on another LCD :D

I would say that these kind of 'problems' should not be TOO hard to learn to live with! ;)
My next challenge is Adobe LR3 which I am initially using to organise my files. I will 'dabble' with the processing and post my 'tries' now and then though! :D

Eizo is the Ferrari in monitoring! Because I can´t afford to buy one, and I will very dissapointed after seeing a printed image, I still keep my old but "real-life-look" Dell Trinitron CRT monitor for previewing images. If I have the fortune to buy an Eizo, I should jump inmediately to buy at least medium format digital camera or a full frame Canon or Nikon.

One of the things that still drive me crazy... until the moment I'll manage to pay the a good full and calibrated system Computer>Monitor>Printer ... for now, It's a surprise each time I get my pictures printed on a lab.

I remember once I heard a music on a system very well calibrated at some friend's house. I had to ask for a copy (k7 by the time). When I heard it on my commun stereo it was quite a desilusion. Where was all the sound gone??

With image its the same, no? ;-)

Rui,

It´s all about CM (color management). You won´t never be satisfied until you have the right combination of a Pro-Monitor properly calibrated by hardaware plus icc paper profile plus right lighting viewing condition. And a wide gamut printer at your place. Most of the labs won´t help you on giving you the "right" print. The just will charge you by square inch. If your budget is tight, get at least a second hand 24" pigment photo printer and you will be amazed by the outcoming you´ll get.

nice images and what a building! they do look a bit saturated, but the colours seem ok with the gold and blue.

I went to an exhibition recently and ALL the photos had been changed colour wise. the grass on some shots was so green it hurt my eyes! and I have never seen purple sea before. alas for film....

Nick,
here are some softer colours to soothe your eyes...(but probably excluding the yellow/red tank though...!) ;)

Hmm...colour printing is a logic step forward, but due to the high running cost, I have so far not investigated this seriously...but ultimately the only way to go?
Note to diary; buy lottery ticket this week... ;)
