Display just on/off

Is it possible to configurate the camera so that with one press the display is of and with another it's on?
It's quit disturbing alway press five times if I only want to turn off the display when I want to shoot with the OVF
I just need display on and display off and not all the others.

Maybe there is a solution for this problem, because my Sony Nex can this and it's camera interface isn't close as good as the ricoh's one.

press the ADJ lever and quickly half press the shutter button, but the down side is you still can't change any setting, let say you are in shutter/aperture priority mode, you cant change the shutter/aperture using dial, one thing for sure it helps me to compose my image and not miss any decisive moment, keep you stealth and saving batteries also, hope that helps

Thanks, great tip!

Also, when you want to change settings, turn on the Information display mode, this temporarily turns on the display, then turns off again when you are done.

I don`t have GRD but on my GXR, as everybody knows, there`s VF/LCD button- a very useful one. I discovered that I can shoot with optical finder and LCD switched off but if you set in menu "LCD Confirmation time" on HOLD, then after taking picture LCD shows taken shot until you touch release button lightly and it goes off. Since GRD doesn`t have VF/LCD button I guess there`s no easy option for LCD on/off in shooting mode.

why i cant do this trick with my grdiv......???

Doesn't work for me either.

Hi, pls try: go to Setup menu, then page 2/4, then turn on Information Display Mode. Exit the menu.

Turn off the LCD screen with Display button.

Now, your shooting information will be displayed automatically when you change settings, like aperture/shutter, macro, etc...

Hope its working :)

OK - I've found a way of partly doing this - more or less - by accident.

Cycle through the display button until the screen is blank...then do a 'save my settings'. The camera will now power-up with a blank screen in whichever 'MY' you saved to...changing a shooting setting will cause all the settings to be displayed (but not the image on the LCD). However, if you press exposure compensation you should get the histogram and the image until you press OK when the screen reverts to blank. Pressing the display button will cycle you through the usual 5 screens. In effect using the 'save my settings' changes the start-up setting for the camera display.

Totally agree. This is also the "offical" solution to shoot with OVF, written in the Instruction Manual.
