Deutschland - Sommer 2010

Gab

New Member
Finally I had some time for me... Listening the soundtrack of "Memoirs of a Geisha" and digging in my virtual loft (my HD...) I have been able to close me in my small world and found some pictures taken with the glorious CX1 during a travel in the very North of Germany in the Summer of 2010...
Remembering the nice words that say we can visit the world through the eyes of the fotographers, I would like to show you some of them. They are few as the vast majority have been taken with my Nikon D200, but hope you will like...
From Berlin to Stralsund and then, through the bridge on the Strelasund, to Bergen auf Rugen. From there we visited all the island and went to Kap Arkona, place of the oldest lighthouse of Rugen. After some days we were back to Berlin where we spent some time...

Excellent pictures Gab! My favourites are 1, 5, 7 and 8. The perspective in 5 is fantastic - you really get a sense of how lovely the day was, and of relaxation in a nice cool spot. Makes me want to do the same as the people in the picture. The spray-paint job on the pink bike in the last picture is a bit dodgy... .

I am very drawn to #1, its the unusual building, the elements of the ships and the lucky grab of the bird in flight and the wide format.
All together look good.

A fantastic set of photos Gab!
I love the Marginus Deutz with the Dutch registration plate :D but In the shade of the lighthouse.jpg is my favorite.

What a great series, Gab, and what a great way to recall the joy of travel! I especially like 1 and 2.

My few trips abroad have been without a camera - I feel that if one is travelling for a short time, the need to take photos can distract from experiencing new surroundings - but no doubt the fact that you have visual souvenirs of your time is worth it. I suppose, like everything else, the right balance has to be worked out... I believe that next time, I will want to make more use of a camera.
Thanks for showing us some more spots on the planet in an interesting way.

Whilst liking them all, #1 is MAGIC!!!! Wow...this needs to be printed up large and proud... :D

i think "Magic" is also a word i fee gab :D a really super mixture of images all ;)
the Black and whites give me a slight surreal feel as being so much seperation within the image structure i have to piece it together like a puzzle
the colours are super also , great shot from the lighthouse down to the relaxing in the shade folk - but am really drawn to the 4th Kap Arkona as has that aged feeling i like :D

Cheers Kort

:)

All, thank you very much for your words!
It is a joy to share my pictures with you and try to transfer you at least a small piece of my feelings when taking the pictures.
Wish for all of you a great 2012.

Thank you Athena, but I swear that the colors are real even if funny!

Thank you Genster, I was sure you would have been interested in that van... ;) btw, the owner (a couple I suppose coming from Netherland) equipped it as a camper and I understood they were just traveling with it around Europe.

Kort, Andy, thank you very much for the comment, you are too good with me...
Kort, I confess you that this is not exactly the effect I wanted to obtain, indeed in particular for Berlin I was looking more for an "aged" effect more or less like the one you found in the lighthouse picture. It is a "2nd WW" effect, trying to have the atmosphere of the war days... May be I will work again in PP on them and submit them to your opinion.

Joe, thank you very much for your words... I cannot more travel without a camera and this is the reason why I invested a certain amount of money (at that time) in purchasing the GRD III, that find perfect for all my travels, so now I use the reflex only for special tasks. I've been lucky in the last two years and half since I had the opportunity to travel a lot in many countries, so the CX1 at the beginning and the GRD III after allowed me to take pictures of every place, and I used them also having a single day or a few hours to have a walk...

Did anybody say already the first shot is splendid? The house, the sailboat, the seagull (or what it is). Just my cup of tea.

Peter
