Construction Site

Athena

New Member
On the way back from the city last month, I took some shots of the construction site at the end of my street. They are building a new apartment block. The workers had finished for the day, which is why I was able to take some pictures without getting into trouble  . Does anyone else have some construction site shots to post here?

Lastly, even though this picture is a bit out of sequence (not being HCB&W), I included it as I found it somewhat interesting - the words "Love your FEET" are spray painted on the bin - not sure why :? .

When I was a child, it was a pleasure to play games in such construction areas. It was possibly dangerous, yes, but there was so many incredible and exciting thighs to discover. And now, everything is fenced and prohibited in written all over the area, even drugs and alcohol. The progress cannot be stopped... ;)

Thanks for posting Athena.

I'm glad my pictures stirred up some pleasant childhood memories for you Peter. Thanks for your feedback :D

Is construction in colour allowed? :)

I too have happy memories of squeezing through the fences of early 1960's construction sites...best playgrounds in the world! Anything totally safe was never really going to be fun, was it!
That would be like restricting tree-climbing to less than a metre... ;)
Mind you, I still bear the scars from that adventure...

I like the symmetry of the construction vehicles in your picture Andy. There are no 'restrictions' for colour pics ;) anything is fine. I didn't realise that construction sites used to be so popular with kids until they started increasing all the restrictions - then again, I grew up a rather isolated country kid during the 80s and 90s, plus, I'm pretty sure the restrictions were well in place by then (if I recall correctly from the times I stayed with my Grandparents in Sydney during the Christmas holidays and actually got to see construction sites).

I agree about the tree climbing - I used to climb trees often from about the age of 2 or 3, and I wanted to climb as high as I could go! One time when I was about 3 or 4, I could not get back down and I got very upset - I had to be rescued by my parents. But despite that, I think what I did always looked riskier than what it was, as I was always very careful when doing such things. I think kids are much more capable of doing these so-called 'risky' things than adults give them credit for, plus, it's a fun learning experience for them. Still, if I was a parent, I probably would be quite worried to hear that my child had been playing on a construction site...there's ambivalence for you :? .
