I'm now a GRD IV owner having succesfully bid on an almost new camera (one month old) which arrived yesterday.
I've seen posts before where the total shutter count has been mentioned - I'd be grateful if someone would tell me how to check this as I can't find anything in the instructions.
I've thought long and hard about this purchase....I've been very impressed with the GXR pictures posted but the 'pocketability' of the GRD series won out in the end for me - cost also had quite a bit to do with it plus I can reuse my GC-4 case and GV-2 (which I realise also fits the A12 28mm).
My initial impressions are that the leap from the GRD II to GRD IV is a big one. The slight size and weight differences really are not noticeable. The screen is the first thing that caught my eye - really crisp, bright & detailed. However, I also agree with other commentators that the icon size is reduced compared to previous models and I don't think there is an icon size choice (which you have on the GRD/GRD II). The other big change is either 'sophistication' or 'complexity' depending upon your view point....there are certainly way more options to tailor the system with the IV and I've set-up the My1 & 2 to replicate the II while I find my way around.
I've not really tested the camera yet but the image quality does look to be a big step up too (which was one of my excuses/reasons to buy) although the II was never that well rated by the experts in any case. The whole speed - focus & writing - is noticeably faster.
Looking forward to lots of shooting,
Richard
