Brick Lane Market - GRD3

Here's some shots from East London's Brick Lane. One of those places that has become uber trendy over the last few years. It used to be a back street with a string of Indian restaraunts. Now a magnet for tourists, culture vultures, artists, and 'time out magazine' readers.

Still a great place to wander around though.

Took these with GRD3 - RAW - all on my 'my1' 'street' setting. A little PPing (purely darkroom settings)

Would be curious to know what your GRD3 street settings are. I have experimented a little with the "My" settings but haven't really used it yet.

most interesting photo's , the now old and mostly forgotten camera's of the first image sets the tone to come , the time passes - but somehow change is disconnected by the resistance that questions the value of the change , either object or re-capture

i could see images as these all day

Thanks Aydemiru... I was going to delete that one! I processed it quite a lot, and was unsure of the final results. I still feel it looks kinda strange in some ways. Not totally natural, but maybe interesting.

Dorfinator...

The GRD3 settings have been discussed over and over by many users. I don't really know what is best, but I have 'ended up' with the following settings

My 'my1' settings are:

a) shutter mode
b) 1/800
c) RAW (10M)
d) Exposure comp. -0.3
e) ISO 200
f) image settings - black and white (contrast +1 sharpness +1)
g) Focus SNAP
h) Snap Focus Distance 1.5m
i) Full Press Snap ON
j) Exposure Metering Multi
h) Flash OFF

Notes:
b) 1/800 if poss, but sometimes slower. Sometimes down to 1/320 etc. (All depends on the weather/light/time of day/indoors outdoors etc)
e) ISO 200, to start with. If it gets darker, I rather manually stop-up the ISO instead of stopping-down the shutter. 400/800 all okay because the grain is okay.
f) this black and white only affects the image on the display screen. Gives me an idea of how the final image will look. RAW is still in colour.
j) I dont really know if multi is best or spot. I think street photography has so many bright and dark areas, that multi handles it quite well.

BUT... I DO do post processing in Photoshop or Lightroom. I like to get add more contrast and sharpness. Amplify the black areas, make them bold. I do spend time cropping and rotating, straigtening etc. AND... I do delete 80% of my photos.

NOW... I would like to hear other members comments on my settings, because I always like to try other people's ideas too.

Thanks khortal.. Those are wonderful comments. I agree with you on capturing the 'the old' before it changes. Some change is good, some change is bad. Whatever the changes are, we should record our surroundings in image and writing. To pass onto future generations. Myself... I just adore old junk, old machines, old styles, old music, old books. Maybe one day I shall run a market stall!

I don't know much about my GRD3 yet (I have my Nikon D90 much longer) and I have never used the "my-settings", so I can't give you a new idea for it, but -a soon as I have some time- I will try your settings on my GRD3

Not sure how I missed these. Nice set. I did a Brick Lane run a while back with my camera club. I also used to work in the area so I know its photo-worthiness

I use pretty much similar settings, except I use spot metering. I use silver efex pro 2 for my post processing.
