"Battery qustion" / Help needed

I found this online (http://mattdentonphoto.com/cameras/ricoh_supershot.html)

The battery it was originally built for was the Mallory RM-1 (same as the Electro Shot), a large 1.3v battery that no longer exists. The replacment is the 1.5v PX1A.

This then on: http://24hourbatteries.com/shop/lr50-px ... -p-86.html

The LR50 or PX1A is a mercury-free replacement for the MR50 (or PX1) cell that was commonly used in cameras and carriage clocks. Mercury cells are now banned because of toxicity and environmental fears. The LR50 or PC1A cells produce 1.5 Volts, which is higher than the 1.35V produced by the original mercury cell. Most devices accommodate the small increase in voltage and function properly.

Hope this helps (looks like a nice camera).

Richard

Thanks Richard. Now I hope I can find one (in my country) but that don't seems easy :(
To be continued...

Genster, I think you can use a zinc air hearing aid battery with an adapter.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/PX-640-CAMERA-B ... 0799246945
The old batteries were bigger. Fatter & longer.
But you can use a modern 1.3V zinc air with small coins or aluminum foil as packing.
Zinc air have about the same voltage curve as the old mercury batteries.
Its just that zinc air don't last as long as the old mercury batteries.
