Auto snap distance at start-up?

Hey guys, quick question. Is there a way to set snap distance to "auto" instead of 1m at start-up? Thanks in advance.

Hi,
Snap-focus (or distance) is a FIXED focus mode, which means that there is no "auto". You can set it at a number of values ( 1m, 1.5m, 2m, 2.5m, 3m, 3.5m, 5m, infinity) but it cannot select any of these values automatically. As far as I know, the default snap focus distance is 2.5m, not 1m (maybe you set it to 1m once...).
Best regards, Gerd

Thanks for the reply. There is indeed an auto setting for snap focus - it uses the external AF sensor to determine the distance.. 2.5m is what 'auto' will default to when it cannot determine the distance of the subject. When I say 'default', I am referring to the distance the camera sets at start-up. I cannot see a way to change this, but I hope I'm wrong.

I would have expected that the camera 'remember's the last setting but perhaps it does not. :?
How about setting and then saving this to a MY mode?
Does the display read out the set distance so that we can check if it is recalling what is set? I don't have my GRD on me to check right now.

PS: Nice to see you Gerd!
