AUGUST 2010 - LEGS

Thank you all who participated in the July contest (you can vote here). Let's start with August contest!

Theme:
The contest theme for this month is "LEGS" (theme suggested by Mainiac - June contest winner)! The legs (one or more) should be taken from the knee down only (few centimeters above or below the knee are not a problem). Some examples:

I guess this month contest will be somewhat less crowded? ;) But I'm sure there will be some nice entries?

Rules:
You may post one photo right in reply to this post. Please, do not link them from other sites! Use the "Upload Attachment" instead.
Contest photo must be taken with Ricoh camera!

Contest Prizes:
Also this time, there will be some really interesting HW prizes (big thanks to our sponsors Ricoh and Alpha Digital!). Of course, there will be also the usual set of SW prizes from Shortcut, Mediachance and newly also Pixelmator!

The winner will have an option to pick either the HW or SW prize. Winner will also have an option to pick anything from the below listed prizes (just one of them of course;) ).
HW prizes for this month:
- Special Ricoh "GR Digital" pin - very rare item! (almost exact copy of the GRD camera logo). I found three more of them in my old camera bag ;)
file.php

- Delkin LCD cover + Energizer battery (DB60/65 compatible - here) + microfiber cloth for lens/LCD cleaning

SW prizes for this month:
- Pixelmator - Image and Photo editor for Mac OS X, kindly provided by Pixelmator developers.
Or any of these, kindly provided by Mediachance...
- Dynamic Auto Painter
- Dynamic Photo HDR
- PhotoBrush
- DCE AutoEnhance
- Pure Image NR

In addition, the winner will be honored to suggest a contest theme for next month!

Good luck everyone!

PS: Please folks, give your photos a reasonable tittle! The best would be to enter the tittle in the "File Comment" box along with your uploaded photo. At the end of each month I'm hunting for the titles over the entire post and sometimes I have no other option than to use "unnamed", which is somewhat silly ;)

A 100% crop from todays shooting of a cicada I had photographed several weeks prior, not quite a pet but at least we get along.

Title = The Struggle of Beauty Against Power
(how's that for a pretentious name?)
Camera = GRD
Location = Shinjuku, Tokyo.
In the background is the hulking, brutalist architecture of the Tokyo City Hall (Tocho, designed by Kenzo Tange in the late 80s, a.k.a., Japan's economic "bubble", and finished in 1991). I've always found the building, while undeniably impressive, intimidating and in a way Kafkaesque (you imagine a place like this housing an all-powerful bureaucracy answerable to no-one). Even the adjacent (so-called) "Citizen's Plaza" is stark and unwelcoming. Only the 8 bronze nude statues, in my estimation, add beauty to the scene. Hence my title. I tried to frame it to create the illusion of the statue and tower having similar heights, and the contest being far less one-sided than it truly is. One can dream...

Cheers,
