OK, managed to drag myself outdoors despite the rather dull weather in an attempt to try out my newly aquired lenses.
I'm happy so far... ;)

Andy,

Very subtle colour rendition I think - looks like the 85mm captures great detail but when I click in to the image it doesn't get any bigger so I'm guessing a bit. The subject of the first shot is a little wierd!

Andy, as per the first shot, seems to have a nice colour rendition and pretty sharp. As per the second shot, seems to me not really in focus...some issue with infinite? or just shaky? or maybe I need to go to lunch...
At which aperture was taken the second one?

Hi Albert,
thanks for your thoughts! Shake is something that I suffer from (trapped nerve in my neck does not seem to have helped this!)
I would guess that the church tower was taken around f4 but could not swear to it.
For interest I show you an approximate 100% crop from each image. Actually it is the first photo that causes memost concern under close analyses, as chromatic abberation is quite pronounced in it. I think that this could be partially removed by post processing though.
All the best,
Andy

Hi Richard,
the story behind the first picture is revealed through the 100% crop that I have now posted: it seems that it is an advert for an exibition called INOPERAbLE. Well at least part of the story!

They are very nice Andy, the first one (and the 100% crop...) are very particular... :)

Thank you - I can see that now.

Andy, I'd be pretty happy with that first image. I can pick up easily the CA in the image with the bin

I am reasonably happy with the lens so far. It was not very expensive and with an effective focal length of 36mm after crop-factor adjustment, might become my 'new' standard lens for a while...we will see!
Just need so good light to make photography a pleasure again... :?
