Amsterdam - Interesting Faces

So Pete, I've been paying attention to your work for some time and I see some slight differences in the way you approach and or respond to your subject matter.
How about giving us an idea of what's going on when you have a camera in your hand on the street........ Personally I'm interested in getting some insight to your thoughts.

If you would like to do a real interview, I could set it up like I did at Amin's 2 forums.....
Don

indeed nice work.

i think your pp on your b&w streetwork is the best i have seen on this forum.
you are keeping a lot of the detail where needed and still have a nice contrast.

sometimes i try to figure out how you do it , no result yet.
don't get me wrong, i don't want you to post here how you do it!
i think every photographer needs to find his own style.

you have found yours..., we can see when it's a petach, and when not. ;)

B.T.W.: you should do the interview!

Thank you for the kind and positive words 5four. I feel very humble that you should write about me in this way, but very glad too. It is very fulfilling to feel that your work is validated by someone else.

As for the petach style? I think that I have changed so subtly since I started that you would hardly notice (a bit like growing old with your partner) When I first started I vignetted and burnt edged my photo's to within an inch of their lives........regardless of content. It had to be black and white. I thought I had settled on my style, but have now started to accept colour works often as does toned down b/w.......it doesn't all have to be film noir, let the subject speak for itself and only tweak when necessary. Like a lot of people I am always tempted to tweak something regardless of its apparent quality. Now I am happy to accept that the camera does not lie...........what it has produced is the truth.

I will certainly do the interview and have been in touch with Don

Although street photography is my first love and "pro bono", I also enjoy night photography in big cities. I have actually started selling some of my London shots through a gallery and have been invited to exhibit at an annual exhibition in Essex County. It's only the 2nd year in which they have allowed photography to stand alongside other art forms.Cool!

Once again, thank you for taking the trouble to write.
