Nice photos and nice weather -- absolutely golden October!
My favorite is #1 because I prefer landscape-oriented photos (I do not know why -- must be inborn...)
Best regards, Gerd
@ Gab: the local wine is not worth to be exported, esp. not to Italy !
@ Tim: I really have no idea about its intended use. I only guess, the small tower long time ago was built for storing the working equipment and for break -time of the workers in the vineyard. Today it is more or less a ruin.
Jonie,
the volcanic plug at the top of the hil looks really interesting! These rocks often produce good soils and probably adds a unique flavour to the wine grow there...
I could imagine that the little tower would also have been used to watch over the grapes around harvest time? In addition to shelter and tool store, I mean...

yes your are right. The vulcanic ground gives a special note to the wine here. The rock top of the hill is a great "problem" at the moment , since a lot of gig stones came down last month and the area is locked for walkers now. This area is part of the famous "Drachenfels" (dragon-cliff near a town called Königswinter), that thousands of tourists mount every year. And: your thoughts about the littel tower on the pictures are quite feasible.
