I think the article says a bit more that the summary above. It's a good read. I don't think Olivier covered the effect that this forum can also have on GAS....think about the GR release and all the fires that has stoked.

The article is a bit long, but good and full of 'truths' for some.
As a long time Leica user, I used to go to the Leica Forum regularly, until I saw a gazillion idiotic comments about the then upcoming introduction of the X Vario that effectively killed it before a picture from the camera was even seen by anyone. Quite an ugly view of what is supposed to be an enriching endeavour and activity! People were very pissed because the camera did not 'push the buttons' that feed their G.A.S. syndrome. That is the long and short of it.
That thread was when it dawned on me that it is all about 'cameras' (read G.A.S.) not pictures, for the majority on that forum, just as Olivier mentions....(Geez I am slow on the uptake sometimes!)
Anyway, I have to get used to the new GR and start shooting asap.
