A few from London

Just a few from a walk about in London. A friend of mine had just brought a D7000 and wanted to put it through it's paces, I decided to leave my DSLR at home and travel with the GXR, 28mm and 50mm. One thing I have noticed about these modules is just how sharp the lens is even wide open.

Enjoy.

This is where the EVF is very useful, shooting straight up I can just flip it 90 degrees!

A great contribution, Willo. The perfectly aligned bikes with a shallow DOF - just perfect. Also the last one, a simple geometry shot, is great.

Great series! Nicely captured motion in first photo and very nice geometrical precision of the last shot. Are you sure the second shot is not from Amsterdam? ;)

Thanks for the comments! Odklizec, London could be easily be mistaken for Amsterdam considering the number of bikes everywhere!

Willo, you got a display of good example of depth of field as in the second picture of the bikes.
I love the other two as well. Excellent shots.

Love your pictures, especially the bike shot :D. Not sure what is happening in the first shot - could you tell me what it is - it looks like some sort of amusement park ride to me.

Athena, it's part of the London Eye. Unfortunately the 28mm is not wide enough to take it all in.

I just googled the London Eye - very interesting. I imagine the views would be spectacular. I don't think I could ride it though - I have a fear of ferris wheels, or anything like a ferris wheel  - strange, I know, since I can stand on the edge of a cliff without much fear - go figure :? . Anyway, great picture, even without a wide enough lens - I could still get the right idea of what sort of thing it was  .

The second & third pictures go with out saying that has all ready been stated. Brilliant ;) but?
How long was the exposure on the spinney wheal in the first picture? It looks like day light from here.

The exposure was 120 seconds and yes it was during daylight. I did this by using 3 ND filters (3.0, 0.9 & 0.6) stacked to give me enough exposure time which was roughly 14 stops.

Wow... just noticed these great shots. Number 2 is my winner. Nice DOF.

All quite artistic and well thought out. London is a great place to walk around with a handy Ricoh!
