Just tried another lens (EF 50mm f1.8 II) with my camera. This one works great in low light (except autofocus) and produces more detailed images (especially somewhere in f5.0-7.1 range).

Nice photo (even though I'm not a cat lover, they shit in our garden).

You'll love that fast prime and the creative abilities it offers. On my Nikons I only use fast primes, I don't even have zoom lenses anymore.

Yes, fixed focal length lens is my choice too, especially for the sharpness and details it offers.
