Andy, I don't know how to express it, but there is something very special about this photo.
The composition and DOF, like Sally said, are excelent. But the light, unique brightness, colours, a fabulous combination of "pink/sepia" (??) and BW... man that's a special one!
Maybe a "pink hour" shot? Instead of the tradicional "blue hour"?
As I think its the inclusion of the foreground interest in the snow that helps support the rest of the image.
the whole image has a bit of look like the CX2 'miniature' mode to me. Must be the OOF areas.
good one Andy!
Thanks guys!
Rui, when I look at the JPEG produced by the GX100, the sky is an almost featureless white...only the DNG file holds this 'little hint of pink' magic.
One up for the use of RAW, I would say!
Incidentally, I opened up Picasa for PP on this one and with a tiny amount of crop and 30 seconds of other adjustments had this image looking very OK to my eye.
Glad to get support of this view!
Every so often I have a go with Picasa and every so often it throws up a jewel!
It really looks like a miniature model. Well done Andy! No matter how good is the JPEG from small sensor camera, RAW will always allow you even a bit more
