2 birds, 2 nests

The first is of the Yellow-vented Bulbul , the second of the Laughing Dove.
Notice how the bulbul nest is far better structured...it is usually also more hidden and harder to see. The dove makes a rather flimsy nest, which I see destroyed or preyed upon by hawks.

Man, ya suckn the guts outta the PX.
You just proved again that it's the go anywhere camera.
I'm loving that first shot for the "in the nest at home" with fantastic eggs that would never see normally.
Lets hope that the Yellow-vented Bulbul comes back & nest again. Lov'en them purple eggs.

Greats shots.
I hope you did not have chased the birds of the nest to make the photos

Thank you both very much!

No need to worry about the nests - we discover them by accident while working on the date trees. The birds leave the nests temporarily when we approach with our machines - their sudden flight is what "reveals" to us that there is a nest there. We take great care not to hurt the nest, even at the expense of not doing the work we are supposed to be doing on the date bunches. We finish what we have to do in a few minutes, leave the tree, and the birds always return. In fact, we like to follow the development of the chicks (if they manage to survive the other dangers) when we return to the tree for the next round of work ...

Two more great PX shots - I notice you zoomed in for the first so the sharpness and focus is even more impressive given the PX's known limitations. Did you do much by the way of post processing?

Richard

@Richard - thanks very much!
The only PP I usually do is sharpening in Picasa - and I tend to sharpen most of the PX shots, as personally I don't like seeing images with soft details. Only exception I make is for portrait-type photos.
These two were sharpened.

Great pics, and I enjoyed the information 8-) . The second pic appeals to me more. It seems amazing that the dove manages to survive with a nest like that! And those purple eggs are really unusual.

Thanks Athena! I'll try to get back to the nest sometime, see what's hatched...
