One more day of "fight" in the streets of Lisbon. One more demonstration of Portuguese Teachers against Governement policies.

Sorry for the political issue here but seeing a child carrying a flag of one of the Teacher Union's was a very significant image for me, because it's one of the greatest concerns we have: The future of our Children

Also it was one of those days with a magnificent cloudy sky over Lisbon, and a magnificent light. If you know it, you know what I mean ;-)

A message of hope, perhaps?

rui, that light you have in Lisbon looks a lot like the light here in Adelaide. Here its quite direct, contrasty and sometimes harsh light. Is yours the same? :?: We have been told that Adelaide is quite Mediterranean in its climate. :!:

Rui, don't worry about politically themed photos! No problem with such kind of photos at this forum ;) Demonstrations and similar events are a great source for street photography. I like such kind of headless B&W photos. They make me to think about their story.

The composition and format of second photo is great too. It would be a great series of photos (let's say 3 of them) with different weather situation. You know, one with sunny weather, one with stormy clouds and sea, one in fog,...

Thelps, Lisbon light results from white surfaces (buildings and the traditional white stone bricks used in pavements and sidewalks) reflecting the sun. Also Lisbon hills are facing South, so they are huge reflective surfaces along the day. And yes, many times harsh and contrasty giving an hard time to photographers :D

Here you can see it a little bit more clearly:

BTW, Adelaide is quite a familiar name for me. My mother's name ;-)

Pavel, those shots would be great but almost impossible to do from where I was. The boat crossing the Tagus river can give us some hard times with bad weather. And the fog is fantastic too. You can't see more than a few meters, which makes the river crossing a real adventure

Here's another shot of the same kid. Now with some sunlight. It was a bit hard to get because we were walking down the hill and I had to shoot wit the camera almost at ground level, and panning, together with strong wind that made the flag cover the entire frame sometimes...
