Zombie Tree

Neither dead (the mistletoe looks to be OK yet), nor alive (everything around is green and colourful in that late spring time). Even the sun seems to shine all around excluding this poor vegetable guy (the shadow on the castle's wall does not support this sunshine felling, but it is not so important, is it).

Its an interesting image to look at. I can suppose the tree was planted by the castle occupiers many years ago. It may have had some significance.
Any idea what the tree is? Any Arborists here?
