Your most used (recommended) film for GR1?

Hi folks,

As I'm now impatiently awaiting the GR1v arrival, the only thing I can do for now is research ;) And one of the basic questions is, what's your most used (recommended) film for GR1?

My most used ISO speed with digital Ricohs is 400, so I'm thinking about getting an ISO400 film. However, in these sunny days would be crazy to go higher than ISO100-200, especially with GR1 shutter speed limited to 1/500. So I think the first roll or two I will test outside with ISO100 color film. So what would be your recommendations guys? Fuji Velvia 100 looks good or maybe Kodachrome?

I always use Ilford XP2 ISO400 black and white chromogenic film in my GR-1s.
Facing the same problem as you I bought the X4 Neutral density filter to 'lose' 2 stops when it was too sunny.
I imagine these are probably a fortune now, especially as you also need the adaptor ring.

go crazy and get some kodacrome, push it a stop and then cross process it..............this is superb for contrasty and punchy colours, blues and reds are fantastic.....not so good for skin tones though....what i like about crossprocessing is yo never know what you will get! I prefere kodak to fuji for crossprocessing....but thats just my taste!

for B+W i like xp2 and trimax...delta400 is fab too!

Just a warning before someone will try to xpro the Kodachrome (25, 64 or 200). Kodachrome is special slide film currently commercially developed only in one place on this planer - http://dwaynesphoto.com/. You can't cross process it with good results in C-41 or E-6 process because it does not contain any pigment and by it's nature is more like B&W film with colours added during development process.

What marky meant was Kodak Elitechrome or Ektachrome slide films, developed in C-41 (negative) process will result in negative film on clear base. You can even develop negative film in E-6 (positive) process, you'll get positive image on orange film base.
