What makes Ricoh colors so good?

The colors I see coming from this brand's models are amazing. It can't just be the sensor? The lens must have a big part in it?
I have been wondering, because if this is the case...why isn't sony as good on color?

Keep in mind that Ricoh

1. has a lot of experience to design and build lenses
2. is a big printer manufacturer with huge experiences about 'colourmanagement'
3. people at Ricoh are closer to the markets and I feel that these people are shooting with cameras whenever it's possible......

But the best colour output is nothing when there isn't a certain portion of above abilities..........

These points are well said. You only have to look at Ricoh's Inside Story's - here's the GXR one http://www.ricoh.com/r_dc/gxr/story/01/ to realize they are photographers who have engineering as a job.
They all sound very dedicated.
