Dear forum users,

I finally found the time to write a few words. Though I read this site for quite a while now and even managed to register I have not been posting anything here yet. Well seems it’s time to change that ;-). My name is Daniel Weinfutner and i live in Germany (Seeshaupt).

Basically I started shooting pictures when I was 6 years old, when my father gave me a Konica T3 SLR with a 50mm/f1.7 back then on vacation in Italy. Since then there have been several periods where I abandoned photography and then rediscovered it. Since 4 years now things have changed. I have not been using digital since that time. In fact I only got three digital cameras, a early Olympus, a Leica C-Lux 2 (witch is a good looking Panasonic) and of course a recently purchased Ricoh GR Digital III. Although I love film you can go on reading as I am not religious about it and really appreciate the conveniences and possibilities of digital imaging.

I own the Ricoh GRD III for 2.5 month now and since that time I have been shooting about 2500 frames with it. What I can tell you so far is, that it has earned its permanent residence in my pocket ;-). What I loved about photography since the early days is the interaction with a sophisticated piece of engineering. Using it to create an image, a capture of a situation in an instant. I honestly thought this is something that got lost in the digitalization of photography. But cameras as the GRD III (or the Leica M9 maybe) proof me wrong. I attached some shots that I like, done with the GRD III . Hope you like them as well.

All the best, Daniel

Hi Daniel and welcome on the board! From your photos is very evident that you are an experienced photographer with good eye for composition, detail and processing. First and last are my favorites in this set. And there are also many nice photos at your flickr.

I hope you will continue to find this forum useful and enjoyable. BTW, don't hesitate to post here also your non-Ricoh photos! I'm sure people would like to see some more of your nice film works ;)

Hello Pavel, Chichornio, Silvio and Samot1234,

thanks to all of you for your kind words! I am happy that you like my photos.
I've gone through your flickr pics Pavel. You have a great eye for photographing people!
For sure i am happy to post some non-Ricoh shots, but when i look at that bunch of unprocessed DNGs on my Desktop .... ;-).

By the way, i will be in New York in the beginning of September. I plan to bring the GRD III, a Lomo LC-A and my grandfathers Voigtländer Rangefinder (50mm f2.8). The Lomo will shoot X-Processed slide film, the Rangefinder will be armed with some Tri-X 400, and the Ricoh will carry my newly purchased GV-2 viewfinder. It will be delivered tomorrow ;-)
I'll keep you posted on the results. Looking forward to train my eye on street photography.

All the best, Daniel

Great shots Daniel. Keep them coming. I would vote for #1 for the very moment of right lightning.

Peter
