The Mountains Around

Gab

New Member
Today had a walk with my family and some friends on the Monti Ernici, mountains that are not far from the place in which I leave. We visited the natural reserve called "Zompo Lo Schioppo" due to the presence of the highest fall (80 mt) of the Central Appennini, the chain of mountains that run over most of the length of Italy. Unfortunately, due to the dry season, this main fall was not present, but we enjoyed many other torrents and small falls that were along the way.
Just a curiosity, the name "Zompo Lo Shioppo" literally means "Jump the Bang" from the thunder sound that the water of the main fall make hitting the rocks at the base of the mountain.

All pictures taken with Nikon D200 and Nikon 12-24 f4. The pictures of the waterfalls are taken using tripod and ND filters. PP with Aperture 3.

simply lovely. Captured the water movement like silk through fingers and the greens are good enough to drink.

Autumn foliage already setting in in the first picture? Very nice waterfall images, the investment in ND filters certainly pays off. The most useful filters I own.

Best regards,
wok

Great work - #3 my favourite. You've worked quite hard to get these....is the Nikon a new acquisition Gab? Is the GRD3 sulking?

Actually I have the Nikon from 2009, I bought it for a special price after my D50 died under a rainstorm on the mountain... I use it no so frequently in particular since I bought the GRDIII, that is always with me during my business travels around the globe, and frequently also during vacations. I'm quite sure that is the Nikon that is sulking since I clean it from the spider webs only time to time... ;)

Very nice shots, reminds me of the Plitvice national park in Croatia. Like the long exposure shots, and especially the third photo - good composition with the rock in the foreground. Well done!

Love the 'greens' and the running water...a place to re-charge ones batteries! Very nice location and images...

All, thank you for your kind comments... :D

@ Albert: the ND filter used are fixed. In some picture I used a combination of two... ;)
