The Black Isle Harvest

A few from a ramble from today. Harvest over, stubble being ploughed under ready for next years crop. Autumn seems to arrived so quickly this year...where did summer go?

Last one works best for me. Great composition and toning. The "black" row of trees nicely divides the frame and the straw barrel in bottom left corner very well balances entire shot. I like it it!

One more vote for the shot #4 also here.
By the way, was there some summer anywhere this year? I cannot recall such a foggy and rainy year like this one here in northern Slovakia in recent decades.

Peter

I liked #4 myself. #1 had promise, but I'm not there yet...perhaps square format... :?
Another one from the black & white stable...is the sky over-cooked do you think?
Summer in Scotland was not SO bad...the harvest at least tells this story...
Cheers!
Andy

Andy,

Shots #1, 4 & 5 are my favourite, I rather like the sky in shot #5, adds to the "dramatic" effect, as for square format, I'm undecided as I like the shot the way it is.

Perhaps we should start the photographic "roll of straw" appreciation society :D

David,
on my way home tonight I noticed a field full of 'square format' big bales...this topic is bigger than I thought! ;)

Andy, top notch photographs as useal. I like the fourth one also. Great exposure & colour tones, even in B&W.
The second shot in colour is good too.
You have me hanging out for summer, thats for sure.
It's pissing down with rain here. Just need some sunshine. Thanks Andy for sum sun

It seems the Black Isle harvest is not yet all safely home!
One from today...

Harvest not yet all complete.
Taken with a P10, colour balance set to vivid (it seems a little bit too unnatural for my taste), but interesting, never-the-less!
A tiny bit of noise also...

PS date also out...should be October...note to myself to check camera... :?

Andy the colours look quite well here. It is a pleasant-to-look-at calendar artwork. The wires are worse. The photo would be much better without them.

Peter

Hi Peter,
here in Scotland, wires are everywhere!
I try and see them as blank music sheets, to be written in the sky, but you do need several beers before this method begins to work! ;)

Andy,

I see them as parallel slices, possibly to another dimension.......or like your goodself beer is involved :D

Great colour though.

David

These images look just like they could have been taken in farming areas in Australia. Similarity.
I like you last one Andy!

#1, #4, and the 5th, are my favorite. Altough I keep going up tp the first one, so simple and powerful!

I cannot join the club, mainly because I rarely see straw rolled this way. Mostly I see paralelipipedic and wired, that's why we talk about a "three wire's sandwich" when we want to get someone really offended
