The Beach

I love this beach which is a 15 minute drive from home. The cliffs & trees come down almost to the water's edge and there are rocks mixed up in the sand. The light is constantly changing.

I need to improve my technique - please feel free to criticise.

A nice set of images, the last three in particular stand out to me - "Orange light" has a great composition, very balanced, and sets a nice path for the eye to take from foreground to background; very nicely set up! And, it goes without saying that the light in "Sunrise after the storm" is beautiful, and captured very well. Good work!

David,

Thank you - very kind. I'm very pleased that the GRD is so 'pocketable' so it's with me most of the time even when the weather is not promising just in case there is a burst of light.

Andy,

Well spotted. Let me know next time you are near the Plough and we can meet for a Ricoh workshop.

Will do! It is interesting to compare the GRII output with the the GXR A12 output...but as yours were taken mostly earlier in the day than mine, perhaps direct comparison is not so easy!
Incidentaly, though I am currently a part-time 'Black Isler', I have been in some part of it or another since England won the world cup...(I'll leave you to do the maths on that! ;) )

Hi again Andy,

I've just seen your 'On the beach' set....I love the way you captured the sky and the feel of 'our' beach. With my set, only the first was shot with the GRD2 and I was using the 40mm adapter lens so it does make comparisons difficult. All the rest, taken in the last few days, were with my GRD (the KT version!).

Very nice set, Richard, with the last one one step on the others!

Gab, thanks - yes I agree that the best was last although I'm quite fond of the compostion in the first shot with the way the sun is catching the beach with my friend Roderick jogging in to the distance. This was an early shot with the somewhat controversial GT-1 40mm adapter which I really like provided you avoid the flare.
