I would like to sync two GRDs . Is this possible by modifying a CA-1 (adding an extra USB lead), does anyone know? . Or is there another way?

Any ideas, please?

Are you trying to setup to do stereo pairs?

Yes. I think the CA-1 might work. I can get a usb splitter but the guy who makes the splitter said he wasn't sure as the system he uses works with modified Canons. Of course it would be nice to know for sure before I buy it as I initially thought the CA-1 costs £19.00 but have just been quoted £29 and £34 by two London shops (those who actually had it in stock). That price makes a little more cautious.

I wish I could help here with this cable but I just dont know if it will work. :?

I can say, a friend of mine makes stereo pairs using a home made rig and a pair of Canon cameras modified with firmware from this site http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/CHDK

They work very well and he prints both pairs for use with viewers and the coloured glasses and also emails them with single images using the flicker effect. The pairs work well. He even used this for a wedding. It was a unique contribution.

Canon cameras modified with firmware

Thanks. I'm aware of the SDM variant of the CHDK s/w that the Canons use for stereo. I'm trying to workout what relevance it has to the GRD/CA-1. ie. does it do anything to make the camera sync using the CA-1, or will two GRDs sync on their own without using software?

I have to say I'm very impressed by the way people have written these software mods (not firmware mods, as I previously thought) for the Canon cameras.

I think if you manage to make the CA-1 splitter it should work fine with both cameras. The only problem is to make the splitter ;)
