Super Moon tonight 23rd June 2013

Thanks. Sydney is closed in and raining but it is ok up the coast. Been out twice tonight to look at the super moon but it looks kinda normal to me. I must admit that I am not in the habit of measuring its size (grin).

Cool video Phil. Wow, the moon is almost as big s the street lamp's globe. I believe you marked the very spot your camera was on and will try another time-lapse when the moon is farthest, for comparison.

Great time-lapse Phil, must have another try at this myself.

Can I ask, when recording the images what time interval is best [seconds between each individual photo]?

Nice capture Phil, I like the technique and the presentation. I don't know if I expected "super-moon" to be obviously larger. The clouds behaved themself long enough for you to get a very good time lapse. Congratualtions.

Sydney area was in the middle of a period of heavy rain and the moon was completely obscured but up the coast there were breaks in the clouds and I could see it. I went out and had a look and in a break in the clouds I saw it and it seemed "normal" size. No doubt it was closer as that is irrefutable.

It was one of those things where you give it a go. I was at a friends house & we saw the moon rising. So when I got home I put the Ricoh RDC-7 on a mini tripod & plonked it on my car roof pointing at the moon. I didn't have a card for the RDC-7 as it takes a smart media card. I've got on now.
The internal memory was 90 shots at 640 x 480. The quickest interval was 30 seconds so that's two shots a minuet. 45 minuets lattera & the memory was full. I was also checking how long the new battery would last. It said low battery at around 25 minuets to go.
The Ricoh RDC-7 will run from a AC power supply, so I would like to do another time lapse with the card this time. At two frames a minuet.

It just looked like a regular full moon to me to Tom. Out in the country areas it would of looked brighter.
