street with a 70-200

On way home from France, stopped off for lunch in Honfleur, Normandy. Only had my 5d packing a 70-200 f2.8 with me. (didn't wanna leave that combo in the car) Tried street with some interesting results from shooting f2.8 at the thick end of the lens. Very shallow dof which I thinks suits these subjects. Shan't be doing it again in a hurry, but interested in effect.

Long lens, shallow DOF really works here, Peter! Walking around with that combo doesn't exactly make you inconspicuous, though.

i am a big fan of the first one.
you can use this set again for streetpho... . great work!

Thanks all for your comments. I like no.1 very much, not just for the shallow dof but for the unusual character too. A lot of street guys would deride my use of a 70-200 as a cowards tool, I like to get in close to the subject......it's a challenge, but the long focal length may have a place too.

Well, it sure would for me. I would never even think of doing candid shots like this without being at least 20-30 meters away. I'd get a compact superzoom and put up with the derision.... ;)
Nice shots!

Great set Peter! The first one appeals to me the most - the composition is fantastic. I don't normally like foreground blurring, but it works really well here, with the man positioned perfectly in the middle and the background blurred as well. Well done ;) .
