street snaps maastricht

Excuse my ignorance 5four, but it seems I do not understand the first shot. On the other hand, I like the #5 for its story (making up some fitting the scene :) ) and like most the last photo.

hi peter, thank you for your comment!

my goal in nr 1 is to drag your eye into the pic over the empty sidewalk and see a pedestrian comming in the blur.
it was just an idea to approache it like this.
maybe not my best experiment...but if you don't try...

you guy's can also tell whats NOT good, i posted them to learn about streetphotography.
sometimes I think it's a crime, on this (to) friendly forum.

So shoot... ;)

Man. you better rethink what you think about thinking about being a streetshooter.....

Don't tell anybody, don't let the word get out....your now officially branded....
Your a streetshooter......

by the way....all the images show promise and a good future but the 1st one....well, keep that as mile marker #1.

hi streetshooter,

i'm still figuring out that first sentence.

thank you for your comment.
much appreciated!

Look at your photos,...... now it doesn't matter what I wrote......

Well 5four, if I have to tell you if you can be considered a streetshooter or not, unfortunately I cannot... But what I can surely tell you is that your series is excellent, both for the subjects and for the B&W rendering. I love them all and for me #1 is beautiful... ;)

some do like #1, some don't.
just a matter of taste i guess.

I keep looking at #2 - it's the background...at first I thought it was a poster but now I think it's 2 windows with reflections - even a partial picture of you!? It's quite subtle and regardless of whether it's intentional or accidential, I think it is a great image to keep looking at and seeing more.

Richard

PS, I've no idea what street shooting is all about but I'm also trying to learn.

Thank you richard for your comment!

these are 2 windows with reflections and indeed i'm on it.
when i took the pictures i didn't pay attention to the refelections.
during pp i noticed it and added some contrast in that area to get it nice and clear.

Well.......You are brave enough to get in close to your subjects. That is a good sign and start. I like what you have produced here.......candid portraits as well. The last one is my fave too. Lady coming out of dark into the light, then another pedestrian fully out into the light, then the right hand sweep of the pathway taking your eye on a journey.....like it's on rails.......such depth!

I think that the processing in a couple of the shots obscure the quality of your eye.

I really think you have the eye for it and look forward to seeing more.

Thx petach for you comment an feedback.

sure.....#1 - #6 have a lot of detail. The remainder (in various degrees) lose substance and are very light....almost like photoshop High Pass has been heavily used. It may be my new LCD screen.......but I hope not..

It is nice to see a street shot beginner get in close. Not many (including me) do that in the beginning. That confidence comes with time normally.

I know what Don means about No.1. Its a cool shot.....containing ambiguity, mystery.....almost not a street shot as the human form is ephemeral.....almost absent. But the lines formed by the railings lead you to the human form. Nicely done sir, nicely done.
