Peter, I liked this one, especially for what I see as a surreal effect. What works for me : the pipe is at once somewhat "alien" (strange shape alone in an urban area), but also "belongs" because of the rays of light directed towards it. Someone has put a pile of earth beside it, probably to keep it from rolling, but it looks like people (children?) have trodden on the earth to climb on the pipe. The perspective, dramatic sky and composition work well together for this effect.
Wonderful feel to this image Peter......apart from the great composition, contrast and subject matter(very tubular!), that sky just sets it off beautifully. ...As for the birds (sure they're not dust spots? ), there or not there it wouldn't really matter!!
Peter, excellent photo, really beautiful! The B&W rendering is wonderful, and the sky... incredible!
Regarding the two birds... I think that a cat ate them... the two black spots are really U2 flying low looking for aliens, I know since them (the aliens) informed me... (Wow... to much beer this night :? ...)
A marvellous presentation from such unpromising material. You have a great eye for a shot and the ability to carry it out technically too. Love the sky, the POV, the tones.
Thank you all much for your kind input making me grow up few millimetres.
By the way, the birds matter, Marcus :!: They are a part of the photo's title.
