Thanks, Martin.
I processed the DNG images in Lightroom 5.3 but with only minimal adjustment to curve and shadow.
I am not entirely new to the A16 family as I have had a bit of a love/hate relationship with the A16. The first copy I had was very soft in the corners, moreso on one side suggesting decentering so I returned it for a refund. The second copy I bought was much better and I used it for about a year. Last year I bought a new Leica M240 ( I have used Leicas for over 40 years) and to help to fund it I sold off a lot of gear including all my Ricoh GXR kit. I am very happy with my new Leica but I did find that I missed the GXR. By chance I came across a seller based in Hong Kong on eBay offering GXR body + A16 kits for £178. I think I snapped up his last one. I also got a second hand A12 M mount to use with my nice Leica lenses so I am happy to be back in the Ricoh GXR camp again.
My renewed enthusiasm for the A16 may inspire me to emulate some of your amazing time lapse astronomical pictures if the weather ever permits.
Thanks Andy,
The light in the late afternoon had a warm golden glow which the A16 captured faithfully. The swans obliged by tuning up as I was composing the picture.
Very nice Archie, especially #2 with the swans and bull rushes. It's good to hear that you are back with a GXR. I've often wondered about the A16 unit - ~I've seen some great shots from it but somehow I don't warm to it when I handle one and I'm a bit of an anti-zoom die hard - on the otherhand I would like something around the 85mm focal length. I suppose the M module may be the way to go but I'm still resisting.
As well as back with the GXR, you also appear to be back in the UK?
As I indicated in my reply to Martin Setvak I have mixed feelings about the A16 zoom. In its favour it has a good modern sensor and of course the convenience of a useful range of FL without the need to change lenses. It lacks image stabilisation and aesthetically it is a rather ugly lens. While it is fairly bulky it is very light and my new camera unit is I think optically better than its predecessor. Martin has produced some amazing cloud and astronomical time lapse shots with the A16.
I do like the M mount unit. As a long time Leica user I have a few nice lenses though of course the crop factor makes my 35mm Summicron become a 50mm and my 50mm Summilux is effectively a 75mm when used on the GXR .
I have not left the UK but I do make annual trips to Australia to keep in touch with my Aussie grandchildren.
