Sony NEX5A

I would say no because the lens are too big. The resulting camera looks a bit unmanagable (in pictures, at least).

Plus, I don't think the user interface is as good as a Ricoh.

I'd rather buy a GXR :D

I think Ricoh would always look at the market and see what innovations are out there but the Sony does appeal to me. I doubt I'll be getting one. The lens options for the NEX are too small at the moment. The only pancake lens is a 2.8 and at 24mm (in 35mm film speak). No 50mm or 35/40mm. Even if it can do high ISO making up for the lack of brightness in the lens I still prefer to gather light optically. I think I'll be sitting the NEX out for either more lenses to come along or look at the NEXt (pun intended) models.

I DO like one aspect of the NEX series - the price. They are quite reasonable

I haven't seen any prices yet as their not due till June in the UK, what sort of price range is Sony pitching it?

Yes, the NEX price model is very competitive. On the other hand, I don't think NEX is targeted against GXR. It's just an entry level camera with large sensor. Minimum number of external/configurable buttons, GUI designed for novice users, etc. It's quite inexpensive but in my opinion, feature very limited. Not to mention the body/lens combo looks somewhat silly. I think we are witnessing new silly camera manufacturers' war. This time it's hunt for "smallest" body with largest sensor ;)
