Tim, I am standing onto of a large concrete dam which forms part of a hydro-electricity scheme. The bare stone below is just beyond the spillway, and the 'v'-shaped feature is the narrowing of the spillway into the old river bed. Incidentaly, the old road (now flooded by the dam) is visible beyond the trees to the top-right.

#2 looks so desolate. Are we on Mars?

More or less. Only there are no midge on Mars!

#3 is a classic composition, question: is there trout in that stream?

Oh yes! And horned deer beyond the ridge!
