I think they are fun, reminds me of the good ol days, but if you look at your local camera shelf a few labels are still there.

Are there any real camera stores left?

We have an iconic camera store, The Photoco, here in the Adelaide Central Market.
They have been there, owned and run by three generations now. I first bought an Olympus OM20 from them in the early 80's, since then I shudder to think how much I spent.

Being in the middle of the markets you can pick up some fresh fish, veggies, roasted coffee beans and choc coated Macadamia nuts then have a peruse of the latest must have.
