I love the late evening but hand-holding at a second is just not quite working! I think I need a superlight full-sized but stable tripod... :?

You likely do need a tripod, but try a technique of hand holding and trigger the shutter using the 2 second timer.
This takes out the likely hood of moving the camera while depressing the shutter button.
Often while bracing on a fence, tree or rail works quite well.

I got to 1/5 sec with this image handheld.

Thanks for the tip Tim! I will give it a try.
Actually what I probably need is an M mount which has good ISO capability, say up to 1250? The Fuji xe-1 seems to have amazing high ISO output...doubt they will be producing a Ricoh M mount anytime soon though! ;)

Andy,

Have you got a CA-1 release? I'm about to put one on eBay but if you'd like it I'll put it to one side and you can have it for a beer next time we meet. It doesn't work with the GRD4 which needs a CA-2. A monopod may also be an idea...I used to have one in the days of film.

Monopod could work. I have never tried one though and am uncertain how much extra exposure I would get before I shake again. Nice and light though; will give it some thought!
Of course an alternative would be a Leica M Monochrom...but perhaps not this week! ;)

Actually, the softness here works better for me - and I'm usually the one looking for sharpness and detail...! I would have been happy to have this one in my collection...

Thanks quester. I agree it not all bad and if it is left 'small size' it has a cosy atmosphere somehow. Who needs pin-sharp anyway! Softer is cheaper...usually...
