Greetings from Melbourne Australia.
Hi folks, my name is Joe and I stumbled upon this place quite by accident.....I simply googled Ricoh + GR + "cool kids" + "back of the class" + smokes + detention ......and this forum came up top of the list, weird huh.
Mr Australia Post was kind enough to leave a GR at my door today so thought I better come over here and see how the Ricoh crew rolls.
I've been shooting for about a year and a half now but prior to that I'd barely clicked a hundred shots in all my 36 years, since forever and a day I always enjoyed looking AT photos, I guess the penny dropped and I decided to finally make some of my own.
My first kit was the iconic GF1 & 20/1.7 and even now I still primarily shoot micro four thirds on the Olympus OM-D, I usually tend to have the wonderful Pana Leica 25mm parked on the camera. Recently though I've been wanting to explore other systems and have been having a bit of fun with a Fuji X100S....as I've gone deeper and broader I find I'm redefining and refining my photographic interests, wants and needs......and this is where the Ricoh GR came in. On paper at least I suspect it may well be the perfect tool as a stand alone minimalist, compact shooter in it's own right but also one that I can still comfortably use along with my m43 gear. My photographic interests/styles are varied....I do have a keen interest in photographing my city and the people who live here, I also like travel/documentary shooting....perhaps because they both feed each other the travel and the shooting.........sometimes I go crazy and experiment with long exposures, infra-red stuff and when I forget my meds I've been known to try a macro or 2. Please feel free to check my Flickr photostream if you'd like........ .http://www.flickr.com/photos/livnius/
I spend most of my time over at SeriousCompacts.com and at mu-43.com where I am a moderator....both are really great communities and it's nice to see a few familiar faces here.
I look forward to taking the GR out and contributing here soon.
Best.
Joe.
edit: I figure I may as well share a few of my images
