Small Ricoh meet up in Amsterdam

Wouter

New Member
Rui Fernandes and I had a small "unofficial" meet up in Amsterdam on August 7. The weather was nice, the people great, and it was a great opportunity to talk about Ricoh cameras, the online communicity, photography, and life in general.

Below you see Rui photographing a parking lot.

Wouter, some great images there, I seem to find myself more interested in the image of the cat in the window. I think I like the old time grain look with that image. Looks like you and Rui had a good time! :)

Hi, Wouter

What a surprise to find this topic :-D
Now I see what you were trying to shoot in the parking lot! And here's the result:

But I also had my own time shooting the shooter, I think this is in the exact moment after your shot ;-)

So, to an indoor's cat looking outside, how about an outdoor's dog looking inside?

Wouter, I had a great time too, especially because of your kind of work. It was my first experience with a street shooter, and I can now understand better some of the discussion I read in the foruns. The next day I've tryed to catch some street moments, and I felt the need of some modifications. Like a strap to hang the camera on the neck, a "more discreet" look without LC1...

And I must say, against all my "believes", an EVF would have been very welcome to try a better frame than this one... ;-)

Thelps, I can assure we've had a great day, great fun, and most of it, a good chance to meet a great photographer and special person. Cheers to you, Wouter!

We had a blast Tim, thank you. I think it is always beautiful to meet special people.

And Rui, nice to you come online so quickly after your trip to Amsterdam. And what a lovely set of photographs (and B&W too). Your photograph off me and the girl is like a second after my photograph. She noticed me, but thought I was a tourist :D

So many thanks again for the wonderful day in Amsterdam and say hi to Dora.

It looks like you guys had a great time there and haver posted some great pictures.

I am impressed how close you came with the look/processing of your pictures. Both your pictures have a very similar feel to them as they have been taken by one person and they also are different to your usual work. I find this very interesting as you two have worked as one to create this set.

Thank you Cristian. And I was really suprised too to see B&W photographs from Rui.

And I really should say that Amsterdam is a superb city for a Ricoh meet up!

YES :geek:

Hmmm, I've never been in Amsterdam. And looking at your photos, I'm sure it would be very nice official meetup! ;) It seems you enjoyed your Ricoh day in two? Very nice photos guys!

Thank you Pavel. Amsterdam is quite compact and easy to walk. And there are many places to drink and eat. The old history of the city with its canals is great for a photography tour and, yes, really nice for a Ricoh official meetup (only a 5 hour ride from Ricoh Europe HQ).

Cristian, you're right about the similarity of the photos. Comunication flows easily with a Ricoh on our hands ;-)

Pavel, I posted a little apetizer about Amsterdam. An excelent choice for a Ricoh meeting!

Many european capitals would love to receive such a meeting, wouldn't it be an idea for "spreading" Ricoh cameras around Europe? ;-)
