Singapore today morning

More on citizen documentary rather than street shots - couple of snaps from my way to the office today.
As some of you know, due to heavily forest fires in Sumatra, Singapore air is full of smoke. PSI (pollution index) went up to 367 just now, level above 300 is considered as unhealthy.
All shots taken when PSI was "only" 158.

Hey ycp, I noticed on the BBC news this morning that your country has been smogged out by the forest fires in Indonesia. Apparently we were told that the people had to apply for face masks...
Your images report on the use of these face masks really well. I am surprised at how your people just have an amazing look of acceptance on their faces and carry on regardless.

Btw, does anyone care about this happening?

We in Singapore will go through it together.

As in many drugstores the masks are sold out, offices brought face masks directly and supplied to workers and visitors.
Majority of companies decided to keep workers inside, not to expose them to polluted air. Traffic was very easy yesterday and today because of that.
This is hard to describe how it is on the streets - like being in the room used for smoking of meats. Skin is itching, eyes are sore. People coughing like there is no tomorrow.
There is not much what can be done. Not enough cloud cover for rain seeding, however planes and chemicals are ready here.

I do not want to comment what we`ve heard from Indonesian side. Our PM handles this very well, I`m proud of him.

PS
Actually, I come back to Spore from Indonesia yesterday. For certain reasons, I can`t distribute pictures taken there :-( But this was very sad to see what farmers do there...

I`m happy to share with you, that 4th picture form this set, Greenpeace asked for permission to use it for anti-haze campaign in Asia!
