SilkyPix PRO and Noise Ninja

Hi,

Does anyone know the best way of using this combination of software? Do I have to use Noise Ninja as a standalone? What are the best settings? Do I use NN on the reduced JPEG (as a last step) or earlier in the work flow?

I downloaded a standalone version of NN a long time ago, but I've never used it.

So tonight, I imported the profile for my GX100 and here's what it gave me on three of my reduced JPEG files taken at the local car show.

(Hmmm... the grid lines don't work, but it gives you an idea. :lol: )

Unfortunately, Silkypix does not have the plugin architecture and therefore, there is no way to integrate NN in it. So you will have to use NN standalone.

NN is a nice piece of SW, but I personally found SP color noise reduction enough for most of my needs. It's nowhere near as good as NN or LR3 NR, but I'm too lazy to process the photos in multiple editors All I usually do is turning the SP color noise reduction to max. I don't care about luminance noise so I leave the rest of SP noise reduction controls at 0.

As far as I remember, NN produce visibly better color noise reduction than SP, but it may require some fine tuning to get the same/similar good results as from the LR3 (or anything else ACR capable). Latest ACR does really great color noise reduction. At least I like it a lot. I wish ISL folks would find a way to similarly good noise reduction.
