Thanks for the comment. Both shots were taken with a polariser on a great day (mixed sunlight and cloud). I hope to post a lot more - I'm learning but not ashamed!
 
I like the second one too. Unfortunately, the first one have badly burned highlights. Did you shoot in JPEG or RAW?
 
The polarizer really makes a big difference - at first In thought it was IR.

You're right about the burnt highlights - I shot the images yesterday in raw and quickly converted to post something - I'll have another go at toning things down.

The church certainly looks Norman, but I think it's a little later. It's actually quite a plain building, I think the b&w image does it a lot of favours!

I'd forgotten how powerful a polariser can be, so the images were quite a surprise.
