The longest night is approaching...through these winter months, and between the storms, the world around here seem to be permanently half asleep, as if it is just not worth the effort to open both eyes when the days are so short...I too find it hard to get out of bed these winter months...hibernation calling? ;)

Andy, what a difference a few thousand kilometers make... ;)
We have finally received "cool" weather (between 20-30 degrees C.), so we have good reasons to go outside (other than for work...) : winter is the only time of year to hike around here. So from December to March, I try to use my Saturdays for biking/hiking in the area. Hibernating is for summer! :)

Here is today's (almost lunar, eh?) :

Thanks both for these contrasting images. At the moment it would be the 'desert' for me as I work hard to heat my house to 20C (by work I mean chop wood and make-up stoves).

Andy,
I think your image was a good reflection of how you feel.
See, you can make good art even in the short hours of the year.
You've just used the light thats available. Good - "available light" photography.

Thanks for the counterpoint Quester. Its more like that here too.
