Samsung TL1 24-72mm f1.8-2.4 lens

It seem a very nice camera for people like me who likes wideangle shots and with the added capability of a f1.8-f2.4 lens. I think the sensor should be the same than the CanonS90 and Ricoh GRD III

At least I have a natural substitute for my GX200 if one day it dies(GXR is too big and pricey for me)

And price is only 399$

Well specified, I would say, at least for my requirements...although I am not sure if it shoots RAW?
I wait to see what the pictures look like with interest!

I think anyone can produce a camera with identical or better specs, but in the end, the optics are what are important.

In that area, Ricoh seems to have an advantage.

You are right, when I bought the Ricoh I was looking too for the LX3 and Samsumg WB500. Finally the Samsung IQ was very porr, and I didn't like the LX3 ergonomy, so we will wait to have some good reviews from this camera

I always remeber the Olympus C-5050 zoom with f1.8 lens, something we have forgot on compact cameras, but is essential for low light shots

I would not automatically underestimate the TL500/EX1 lens. The label says Schneider-Kreuznach - it's very good german optics company (currently producing large format lenses and B+W filters for example) and in past they produced top-notch enlarger lens and lens for Rolleiflex (parallel to Zeiss).

I'm still curious if the lens will behave very well without software corrections like Ricoh G(X/R) series or will need extensive software support like LX3 or 4/3rd lenses.

I think that if nothing else, this new Samsung could be a hard push for Ricoh to reconsider their abandonment of GX line. GXR + S10 is very nice but very...very expensive what it offers. And to be honest, it's also too big compared to GX200, S90, LX3 or this new Samsung. I'm too curious about the TL1 lens performance, because f1.8 for lens starting at 24mm is really challenging. I think both Panasonic and Leica are a bit more experienced in the camera business than Samsung so I would be really surprised if the TL1 lens would deliver lower distortion and less or even the same chromatic aberration than LX3 lens. Can't wait to see some sample photos.

1.8 in 24-72/1.8-2.4 is like a full stop from 2.5 in 24-72/2.5-4.4, so Ricoh's 24-72/2.5-4.4 can't be a basis for any comparison...

Think you are onto something here. I suspect it will be like the LX3, most lens design but could be wrong. Without plain clear RAW support we won't know easily.
