Rx vs ??

Hey all,

I'm looking for capable and flexible pocket compact (pocket size) and want a bit more zoom than GX100/200 series. The R8 seems appealing in many ways but its hard to read between the lines of the reviews. I am willing to live without RAW (reluctantly) but this is a second camera. So why would I want to get one instead of one of the competition? My short list is the W300 or the FX500 at the moment. What advantage would be the pluses of an R8? (I presume its too early to know much about the R10 yet).

BTW I have a great old Ricoflex TLR at home, will that let me join here?

Hey Micheal,

My new R8 seems fine, and is beautifully built, however, no real "bump-out" hand grip is there for me to feel comfortable in holding and shooting with it. Its small, and it is a jewel, just wish nicer, for me, to hold. The Pana TZ5 seems much better in hand to me in this regard.

Hoping to hear from others if the R10 grip is enough better than the R8 for me to be in love with that camera. Best wishes, jonbon
