.... that's the Arabic word for cairn - a pile of stones that serves as a landmark of some sort - and it's the easiest way to mark a spot, or trail, in the desert. Added is a panorama from Saturday's hike .
For all you freezing Ricohnians from northern latitudes - I got a bad sunburn on that walk...
